Compute MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256 and more digests locally in LocalKit. Verify checksums in your browser—hashes never leave your device and no account is required.
Interactive controls load with JavaScript. Processing stays in your browser—nothing is uploaded.

How to use
Open Hash Generator — Open the hash tool.
Paste text or use options — Provide the input to hash.
Copy digest — Copy the hex digest for checksums or debugging.
Limits
MD5 and SHA-1 are unsuitable for password storage. This is not bcrypt/Argon2.
When to use
Quick integrity checksums and digests without uploading files.
When not to use
Storing user passwords or proving authenticity of signed artifacts.
Privacy note
Digests are computed locally.
FAQ(5)
Are hashes reversible?
No. Cryptographic hashes are one-way; you cannot recover the original from MD5/SHA output.
Is MD5 safe for passwords?
No. Use a password hasher (bcrypt/Argon2/scrypt) server-side. This tool is for checksums and quick digests—not password storage.
Which algorithms are available?
Common options include MD5, SHA-1, and SHA-256 (see the tool UI). Prefer SHA-256 for integrity checks; MD5/SHA-1 only for legacy checksums.
Does hashing upload my file or text?
No. Digests are computed locally in the browser.
Why do hashes change with one character?
Avalanche effect: tiny input changes produce completely different digests.
Developer
JSON Formatter — Beautify, minify and validate JSON in your browser with LocalKit. Catch syntax errors locally—no upload, no account, ideal for API payloads and config drafts.
Base64 Encode / Decode — Encode or decode Base64 text entirely in your browser with LocalKit. Handy for data URLs and tokens—processing stays on-device with nothing uploaded for computation.
URL Encode / Decode — Percent-encode or decode URL components locally in LocalKit. Prepare query strings and path segments without sending text to a remote encoder or creating an account.
UUID Generator — Generate UUID v4 identifiers in bulk inside your browser with LocalKit. Create test IDs offline—nothing is uploaded for computation and no signup is needed.
Password Generator — Generate strong random passwords offline with Web Crypto in LocalKit. Optional ambiguous-character exclusion—secrets stay on-device with no account or upload.
Random String — Generate random hex or alphanumeric strings locally in LocalKit. Create tokens in your browser—results stay on-device with nothing uploaded for computation.
