How to use
Open SQL Formatter — Load the page.
Paste SQL — Paste a query or script.
Pick dialect — Choose the closest SQL dialect.
Copy formatted SQL — Copy into your client or migration.
Limits
Requires JavaScript. Extremely large inputs may slow the browser tab. Results depend on your browser APIs; there is no server-side processing quota because nothing is uploaded.
When to use
When you want a quick, free utility without creating an account or sending content to an online converter.
When not to use
When you need server-side integration, batch automation at scale, or certified compliance tooling.
Privacy note
Tool inputs are processed in your browser only. Theme, language and favorites may use localStorage; hosting may keep standard access logs (IP, UA, URL) without tool payloads.
FAQ(5)
Which dialects?
Use the dialect option (e.g. sql, mysql, postgresql, bigquery) for better keyword layout.
Will my query be sent to a server?
Never. Formatting runs with the self-hosted sql-formatter bundle.
Does it execute SQL?
No—it only beautifies text. There is no database connection.
Can it minify SQL?
Beautify is the primary mode; remove comments/whitespace manually if you need extreme compaction.
Large scripts?
Typical stored-proc sizes are fine; multi-megabyte dumps may slow the tab.
